In-home dialysis machines are convenient and may keep patients healthier
Many renal specialists are increasingly supporting the use of in-home dialysis machines. In addition to possibly being healthier for patients, the machines are much more convenient for the 400,000 Americans with failed kidneys who often find it hard to go to dialysis centers three times a week for the process. Growing research, although preliminary, suggests daily hemodialysis may keep patients healthier. The National Institutes of Health is set to begin a major study this fall.
