Patient Assistance Programs: The following is a partial list of the many programs available
Please note: Many drug companies offer price breaks.
While the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is pushing for generic drug use to help lower prescription drug costs, drug companies are offering programs of their own, including discounts, online rebates and many programs for patients in need.

 

The Partnership for Prescription Assistance www.pparx.org  This helpful website brings together America's pharmaceutical companies, doctors, patient advocacy organizations and civic groups to help low-income patients without prescription coverage pay for their medicines. Many will get them free or nearly free. Its mission is to increase awareness of and enrollment in existing patient assistance programs for those who may be eligible. Through this site, the Partnership for Prescription Assistance offers a single point of access to more than 275 public and private patient assistance programs, including more than 150 programs offered by pharmaceutical companies.

RxHope is an independent company financially supported by PhRMA (Pharmaceutical and Research Manufacturers of America) and participating pharmaceutical companies.
In 2002, programs supported by PhRMA members helped 5.5 million in 2002, and 6.2 million in 2003, underinsured or uninsured patients obtain needed medication.

Neighborly's Pharmacy Formerly known as Neighborly Senior Services, Neighborly Care Network is a local nonprofit organization which provides valuable services to seniors and their families.

BenefitsCheckUp from The National Council on Aging
Click here to go to a website that helps find programs for people ages 55 and over.  These programs  may pay for some of the costs of prescription drugs, health care, utilities, and other essential items or services. A detailed online  questionnaire is requested to help find programs that can be of assistance.

Compassionate Drug Patient Assistance Program Funded by the Suncoast Health Councils call 217-7070 Ext.12 to determine eligibility. (Be prepared to provide income, any insurance information, and name of all prescription medication.)

 

Florida Residents:  Did you know that all counties in Florida have an organization dedicated to assisting elders with health insurance coverage they need through Medicare, Medicaid, Prescription Drug Assistance, Long-Term Care Planning and Insurance and other health care issues.  The service is free!  The name of the organization is SHINE.  You can speak with a SHINE representative by calling 800-963-5337.  Also, you can read about SHINE at www.floridashine.org.

There are also other organizations, which offer patient assistance programs in Florida. St. Vincent de Paul Free Meds Program and Daystar Life Center in St. Petersburg have patient assistance programs. Dial 2-1-1 for additional drug patient assistance programs.
